First Pitch at Citi Field
As of April 13, 2009, Mets fans officially had a home they could be proud of and this fantastic panorama of Citi Field shows the first pitch thrown in it. Captured in mid-flight, the ball tossed by New York's Mike Pelfrey to San Diego's Jody Gerut can be seen streaking near home plate, where it would be taken for a called strike, at precisely 7:11 pm. The clarity of this print is so amazing that the time is visible on the scoreboards. So too is everything else inside of the Mets' retro-fitted ballpark, which shone bright on its opening night for the 41,007 in attendance. All of the quirks that give Citi Field its character are on display in this poster, including the irregular outfield fences, dual state-of-the-art scoreboards, right field's Bridge Terrace and Pepsi Porch, and one holdover from Shea Stadium - the orange foul poles. Throw in the Citi Field inaugural season logo, which is on the bottom right corner, and you have a complete portrait of the Mets' new $800 million wonderland.
