Arvest Ballpark Facts & Figures
Construction cost: $50 million
Financing: Public funding was exclusively used, as voters in Springdale approved a proposition in a special election held on July 11, 2006 to pay for a baseball stadium and its infrastructure by refinancing bonds and extending a 1% sales tax previously approved for road construction. The $50 million ballot measure passed by 17 votes (2,410 to 2,393).
Architect: HOK Sport
General contractor: Crossland Construction
Groundbreaking date: February 28, 2007
Owned by the City of Springdale.
Located a short distance west of Interstate 49.
Was built on a nearly 40-acre site that had previously been farmland owned by H.B. and Loretta Duncan. The city paid the couple $3.8 million for their land.
Naming rights: Arvest Bank, which began in nearby Bentonville, is currently on their second 10-year term to brand the ballpark with its name. The original 10-year deal was announced in 2007 and the extension agreed to in 2015. The amount the Arkansas-based banking chain paid wasn't made public in either instance but the present agreement ensures that the Arvest Ballpark name, which was announced on September 5 of 2007, will be maintained through the 2027 season.
Has 25 suites and physical seating for 6,800 when seats in the suites and picnic areas are added to the grandstand total. Lawn seating in the outfield has space for approximately 700 people and bumps up the ballpark's true capacity to 7,500.
The grass used for the ballpark's playing surface is a variant of Bermuda called "Patriot," which was originally supplied in October 2007 by Oakwood Sod Farm in Delmar, Maryland. To keep the grass green throughout the baseball season, the bermudagrass is overseeded with ryegrass in the offseason. Following its third season of use, the surface was named by the Sports Turf Managers Association as the 2010 Professional Baseball Field of the Year.
Hosted the Texas League All-Star Game on June 25, 2013, when a crowd of 6,265 watched the South Division beat the North Division by a 6-0 score. George Springer was named the game's MVP.
