U.S. Cellular Field - 2005 World Series
This panorama of Chicago's South Side ballpark was taken during Game 1 of the 2005 World Series between the White Sox and Astros. It shows Jose Contreras pitching to Morgan Ensberg in the top of the 6th inning with the White Sox leading 4-3. With a runner on third, the infielders are drawn in to prevent the tying run. Ozzie Guillen's strategy worked, as Ensberg would ground out to Joe Crede at third base, where Willy Taveras would be stranded. The White Sox went on to win the game 5-3 and four days later they would beat the Astros for the fourth time in four tries, completing an "un-four-gettable" sweep (the final scores are in the bottom right corner) and making the Chicago White Sox World Champions for the fist time in 88 years.
The clarity of this print is as crisp as the memorable October night it was taken on. You can actually see the pitched ball in mid-flight and read the ads behind the outfield bleachers!
