Opening Day at Turner Field
Regardless of the year, Opening Day is a big deal in Atlanta and 2011 was no exception at Turner Field. That's the what and when scene that's shown here, with a big American flag unfurled across the outfield in front of a big crowd as the daylight was waning while the Braves and the Phillies lined the baselines during the National Anthem, which was being performed by country musician Elizabeth Cook at 7:21. The clarity of this panorama is so good that you can see the time on The Ted's small left field corner clock board, while the really big board in center prominently shows a then Braves' newcomer, Freddie Freeman, standing with his hat over his heart while Cook plays the guitar at the microphone stand set up between home plate and the pitcher's mound. Those are among the easy to see highlights of April 8, 2011 in Braves Country, as the sign on the right-center field fence proclaims Turner Field, during the 15th opener in the ballpark's history. And even though this home of the Braves is set to become history after the 2016 season this poster will forever serve as a reminder of all the good times and teams that Atlanta's field of dreams will be remembered for.
