Last Pitch at Busch Stadium
After 40 seasons and hundreds of thousands of pitches, the final one thrown during a regular season game at Busch Stadium was captured in this panorama poster and in stunning detail you can see everything inside of the stadium as it appeared on October 2, 2005 at 4:29 pm. That's when Jason Isringhausen struck out Cincinnati's Chris Denorfia, who is shown swinging at strike three, to save the Cardinals' 100th win of the season and the final one (playoffs not included) at what was regarded as the best of the multi-purpose cookie-cutters. Besides the Gateway Arch and Millennium hotel peering over the crown of arches that dignified the stadium's roof, you can also see a construction crane that marked the progress to come. Just 36 days after this image was taken the wrecking ball began tearing down the place where red clad fans had watched their Redbirds play since 1966. This poster keeps alive its memory.
