Ballparks aren't the only landmarks baseball fans see on their pilgrimages. Located about 10 miles from the stadium where the Salem Red Sox (a Class A affiliate of Boston) play is the neon H&C Coffee Sign. This slice of Americana is in downtown Roanoke, Virginia, where it has been a regional institution since 1946.
The H&C Coffee Sign is famous for its neon letters, pot, cup, and pouring coffee. Restored in 2005, the sign currently sits atop the Shenandoah Hotel in Roanoke, where it can be seen from downtown and I-581.
A public fundraising campaign paid for the recent refurbishments and now the public can own this miniature replica, which accurately details the sign and its motion of pouring coffee into a cup.
The collector's edition version of Roanoke Valley’s beloved H&C sign is 4" high by 3¼" wide and is a paper thin .01” thick. The sign rests in a black base that won't scratch surfaces and its neon animation can be turned on or off with the flip of a switch.
